Green Village

The upcoming Union County Fair will host its second annual Green Village this year, featuring interactive recycling exhibits and information from the Union County Bureau of Environmental Conservation, a 90th Anniversary display of historic photos from the Union County Parks System, the “DJ Lab” dance floor lit with high efficiency LED lighting, and eye-popping recycled art installations.
The Green Village is designed to help raise public awareness about resource conservation in fun and memorable ways. Returning this year is the popular “Wish in a Bottle” interactive display, which many County Fair visitors used as a backdrop for picture-taking.
The County Fair is also going green with a conservation and community health tent from the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Union County featuring a Harvest Contest and prizes, a free rain barrel raffle, and live demonstrations and information on gardening, nutrition, and other topics related to sustainable living.
Other conservation measures at the County Fair include:
Recycling: Bins for collecting bottles and cans are conveniently located throughout MusicFest.
Alternative Transportation: Nearby residents are encouraged to walk or ride bicycles to MusicFest. Bike racks are conveniently located near the entrance (bikes are not permitted within the site).
Offsite Parking: Free shuttle buses are provided from the free offsite MusicFest parking lot, located nearby. Offsite parking helps reduce congestion and vehicle emissions. Onsite parking is also available for a nominal fee.
