Neon Trees, famous for their madcap theatricality and the blazing hot single “Animal,” will perform on Saturday’s bill with Blondie. Also taking the stage Saturday are Toad the Wet Sprocket – named after a Monty Python sketch – who came out of California with a melodic folk-pop sound that made them one of the most successful alternative rock bands of the 1990’s, and Paul Rodgers of Bad Company who has sold in excess of 125 million records and given us rock anthems such as “Can’t Get Enough” and “Ready for Love”. Support Free Outdoor Music in Union County with a “Friends of MusicFest” Sponsorship
Union County, NJ – Music fans can show their support for the 14th annual Union County MusicFest this September, by becoming a “Friends of MusicFest” individual sponsor. Artists confirmed for MusicFest so far include Blondie, Neon Trees, Paul Rodgers of Bad Company, Live’s Ed Kowalczyk, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Southside Johnny and the Smithereens, plus more.
MusicFest is part of the Union County Fair, scheduled this year from Wednesday September 14 through Sunday September 18. Free MusicFest concerts are staged each day along with carnival rides, food and craft vendors, and much more.
“Friends of MusicFest helps to keep the wonderful experience of an outdoor music festival free and open to all,” said Freeholder Board Chairman Deborah Scanlon. “It’s an affordable way to show your support, and if there is a music fan in your life, a Friends of MusicFest sponsorship makes a great gift.”
Friends of MusicFest individual sponsorships are offered by the Union County Performing Arts Center (UCPAC), which is an integral partner with Union County in presenting MusicFest. For complete details, visit ucmusicfest.org and follow the Sponsors link to Friends of MusicFest.
The Friends of MusicFest area will also include intimate, exclusive performances by Mike Peters, Cy Curnin of The Fixx, Brian McVernon, and many more.
Generous sponsorships, including that of presenting sponsor Overlook Medical Center and other corporate and local businesses, have helped to offset the cost of staging MusicFest since its inception. Friends of MusicFest sponsorships were offered for the first time last year, to enable individual music fans to join in the tradition.
This year, Friends of MusicFest sponsorships are available at $30 per person for Friday September 16, $40 for Saturday September 17, and $30 for Sunday September 18. Sunday is New Jersey Family Day presented by Kean University, featuring the Smithereens and headlined by Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
For a package of all three days, the sponsorship is $60 per person.
As a token of appreciation, Friends of MusicFest sponsors each receive three free beverages and free onsite parking. Friends of MusicFest also have use of the Jack Daniels Lounge, featuring seating and nearby bathroom facilities.
This year, the Lounge has been moved to a new location between the two main stages for better views of both stages.
UCPAC is a nonprofit organization that operates the Performing Arts Center in Rahway. This beautiful 1920’s-era theater was saved from the wrecking ball by local preservationists. Union County subsequently bought the theater, completed the restoration and updated it to contemporary performance standards.
