With the release of their fifth studio album “Little White Lies” in April,
Fastball took its show on the road and kicked off their tour by wowing audiences
with seven shows at the SXSW festival, kicking it into high gear with the same
great harmonies, retro guitar riffs and toe-tapping melodies that encompass the
very being of the band.
Fastball was formed in 1994 by native Texans Joey Shuffield and Miles Zuniga
along with So-Cal transplant Tony Scalzo. Originally called Magneto USA, they
were signed in 1995 to Hollywood Records and soon changed their name to
Fastball. They released their first full length album, "Make Your Mama Proud" in
1996 and have toured the U.S. and the world ever since, racking up like "The
Way" and the Grammy-nominated album “All The Pain Money Can Buy.” The guys have
also done quite a bit of side work, writing and recording with such luminaries
as Bruce Robinson, Al Anderson, the Dandy Warhols, and many more.
Fastball have perfected a set that is chock full of old faves and new material
such as “All I Was Looking For Was You” and “The Malcontent.” The addition of
Corey Glaeser on bass to the tour frees Tony Scalzo (guitar, piano, vox) to
tickle the ivories and strum his guitar while completing Fastball’s dual vocal
attack, and brings an entirely new element to the live show. With the support of
Joey Shuffield’s clockwork drumbeats, this show is guaranteed to keep you
whistling and humming all the way home.
