A little Zappa here, a touch of Monty Python there - all are thrown into the mix
of a two-hour Nick Harper set. It’s all part and parcel of what fans around the
world expect from this inveterate showman. From personal introspection to biting
political satire via a charmingly caustic wit that would make Groucho Marx
proud, to see Nick Harper live is an unforgettable experience.
Nick Harper - son of the legendary Roy Harper - picked up his signature
instrument at age 10. He made his first recording on the elder Harper’s Whatever
Happened to Jugula? and embarked on a career in his own right, touring with
Squeeze and going solo. 1994’s Light at the End of the Kennel was followed by
his powerful 1995 debut album Seed. His 2006 album Treasure Island attests to
his well deserved recognition as one of Britain's finest acoustic
singer/guitarists.
Last year Nick fulfill a long-held dream when he played the Royal Albert Hall
supporting the Levellers, and brought his daughter on stage to sing Crosby
Stills and Nash's classic “Our House” with him just as he joined his father
onstage thirty years earlier.
This year finds Nick touring and connecting with fans, working on his next
album, and helping Mike Peters of the Alarm raise funds to fight cancer through
Peters’ Love Hope Strength Foundation. In September - right after MusicFest -
Nick will join Peters and the LHSF team in a record-breaking gig at Uhuru, the
19,341ft peak of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
